This guide covers prices, everyday life and what to check before buying in Fontvieille, Monaco.

A district reclaimed from the sea

Fontvieille is the result of one of Monaco’s largest land reclamation projects, carried out under Prince Rainier III: works began in the mid-1960s and the Principality bought back the Fontvieille platform in 1973. The district then took shape over two decades: the Princess Grace Rose Garden opened in 1984, the Stade Louis II was inaugurated in 1985, the Chapiteau de Fontvieille followed in 1986 and the shopping centre in 1992.

Because it was planned as a whole, Fontvieille was designed with its own infrastructure, down to a pneumatic waste collection network that serves the buildings of the district.
